Traditional concussion treatment is reactive, lacking a baseline and makes it difficult to determine exact severity and true impact on your mental state.
We tackle things from a preventative standpoint, so that if the unfortunate happens, you can be assured that you're doing everything you can to get back on track.
We implement bi-weekly or monthly brain scanning using qEEG, depending on concussion prevalence in your activity, so we can establish a reliable baseline of your brain function in order to monitor brain health.
The catalog of brain scans provides a baseline so that if the unfortunate event of a concussion occurs, we are able to scan after the fact and see just how far off of baseline you are.
The scan following immediately after a concussion indicates the severity of the concussion when compared to your baseline and provides a guide of when you are safe to return to activity, once subsequent scans are more aligned with your baseline.
We actively work together with your healthcare provider and supply any useful information that will help them establish the most effective plan for you to recover safely and get back into action.
At our clinic, we are committed to providing cutting-edge neurological assessments through the use of quantitative EEG (qEEG) and serial scanning technology. Our services are designed to establish a comprehensive baseline of normal brain activity for each individual and to detect any significant changes that may indicate concussions or other forms of head trauma. We work closely with young athletes and their sports medicine providers to give them a clear, detailed understanding of their brain health. Unlike standard methods, our advanced qEEG scans show which areas of the brain are affected and how severe the impact is. This helps athletes and their parents make more informed decisions about when it's safe to play again.
Subjective Assessments: Traditional methods often rely on subjective symptom checklists and physical exams, which can miss subtle changes in brain activity.
Indirect Metrics: Current standard practices use indirect methods such as measuring reaction time and accuracy in cognitive tasks as proxies for brain function. While useful, these metrics do not provide a measurement of brain activity.
Limited Frequency: Regular monitoring is not typically part of standard concussion protocols, making it difficult to track brain health over time or detecting symptomless or asymptomatic concussions.
Objective Data: Our qEEG scans provide objective, quantifiable data on brain function, reducing reliance on subjective assessments.
Direct Brain Activity Measurements: Unlike indirect methods, our approach measures brain activity directly, offering a more accurate and specific understanding of brain health.
Regular Monitoring: By offering serial scanning, we ensure continuous monitoring of brain health, allowing for timely intervention if changes are detected.
Comprehensive Baselines: Establishing a detailed baseline of normal brain activity makes it possible to identify even small deviations most likely attributed to head trauma. Working with your existing sports medicine provider, our recommendations play a vital role in making a more accurate and comprehensive diagnosis.
